London Triathlon Renewable Energy Cup
Hi I'm Toby Radcliffe and I am a professional triathlete racing long distance, mainly ironman distance events - 3.8km swim, 180km bike, 42.2km run. I race for the Timex Multisport Team, the most high profile and successful triathlon team in the world. Recent results include winning the Australian Masters Olympic title (2009), 13th at IMUK (2009), and being among only 10 one of ten Brits to race under 9 hours in 2009 at Ironman distance. I also run ultra distance races - winning the Nove Colli Double marathon 2009, 2nd South Downs Trail Marathon 2009, 8th at the Trans Rockies 6 Day Ultra 2009.
My other passion is for sustainability. I have a Masters in Leadership for Sustainable Development. I've worked in the NGO sector communicating sustainability and for the last 3 years I have been a freelance consultant in sustainability. My focus is on green technologies, including renewable energies, venture capital funding for these, and promoting sustainability within corporate processes. But what I love most is when I get to combine my 2 passions - sustainability and sport.
I also work with consultancy Athletes for a Fit Planet (www.afitplanet.com) promoting sustainability in sporting events and through sports in general, which seems to fit perfectly with the Koru Foundation's London Traithlon Renewable Energy Cup The Koru Foundation's remit is to provide long term energy solutions to the world’s poorest communities is one that I feel passionate about. Renewable energy projects can provide access to employment, health and education opportunities without contributing to our changing climate.
Over the next few weeks, I hope to be able to give you some tips on preparing for your race at the London triathlon and on how to be a bit more sustainable along the way!
Train hard!
